Luapula Province Travel Guide: 22 reviews and 23 photos
Of all the areas of Zambia, Luapula Province was where I most often ventured to sample what life was like away from the industrialized Copperbelt area where I lived and worked.
In addition to the excitement of crossing through the Congo to get there, Luapula offered me a 'private' Game Park, a fisheries patrol on Lake Mweru checking for poachers from the Congo, beautiful waterfalls, sandy beaches and very friendly people. And, how can I forget, Samfya on the shores of Lake Bangweulu also marks the first road trip that my wife and I ever took together!
All in all, it is an amazing part of Zambia that, to this day, is largely undiscoverd by tourists. If you want to really get away from it all, it is still not too late!

- Pros:The Real Africa
- Cons:Not Much Tourist Infrastruture (also a 'Pro')
- In a nutshell:One of the last 'undiscovered' areas of Africa

Glenn, fantastic page with great photos about your adventures in Zambia. I really like your Peugeot 204.
Ntumbachushi Falls, Ng'ona River, Lake Mweru, Lusenga Plain National Park—you’ve had some real adventures. How did you ever manage to leave? I don’t think there are enough people in the world that could have pried me away from the Ntumbachushi Falls.
You've been to some fabulous places Glenn. The Ntumbachushi Falls loos so beautiful. You've had some wonderrful experiences. Thanks for sharing them with us!
These 'how it was' pages are always enjoyable, Glenn. The trip on the fisheries patrol boat had me thinking of the 'African Queen'! What a pity the Lusenga NP has been cleaned out since.
I was again immersed in Africa, the one I discovered beginning 80’s. Thanks Glenn, for awaking memories with this beautiful tour in a place I do not know but, who knows? May be one day? Merci encore.
What a fantastic & interesting country, I might consider also visiting Zambia in one of my next African adventures.
Your descriptions of real tough guys' (including you of course) adventures in Zambia make a fascinating reading. Thank you for sharing the excitement with us.
Good to read about your adventures with the fisheries patrol & you still have the records to bring back memories
nice to see your pics of the old times, Glenn, and these old hair-cuts and other fashion-delights... ;~)
Fascinating !
