Victoria Falls is probably the greatest sight that I have seen in my world travels - 'The Smoke that Thunders' in the local language (recent update - you must also see the Grand Canyon!). You can see lots of great shots of the falls on other travel sites so I reserved this spot for my greatest thrill of all - on Honeymoon with my wife Susan as we sit beside the Zambezi just above the Falls!
If you visit the falls during the wet season when the Zambezi is in full flow, you will get totally drenched from the rising spray. The roar of the water is amazing as it goes over the 1-mile wide precipice. I actually took a few photos of this natural 'Wonder of the World' just over two years earlier (December, 1972) when I spent Christmas there with some fellow volunteers only months after arriving in Zambia. They show a ground level overview of Victoria Falls from the Zambian side as well as another vantage point showing a chunk of Zimbabwe sticking out into the Zambezi below the falls. There are (blurry) tiny dark specks of people standing at the edge of that sharp plateau in the upper left corner of the last shot.
