Originally the Abu Simbel Temple was carved out of solid rock 65 meters down the original site. Because of the Aswan High Dam in 1965, the temple was moved piece by piece to the top of the mountain. The work last 5 years and costed $42 million. |
| | Abu Simbel is about 300 kilometers from Aswan. Most of the people takes the bus to go there. I did the plane one. Ok the plane is faster, costs more, but at he end take sthe same time and you are always in a hurry. In my opinion it is better to take the bus, roads are save and fast and you have more time to check the Temple. |
