Most of us cannot even remember the days when you would walk uptown and catch a whiff of ethnic foods being cooked on the stove tops of neighbors along the route, or smell the freshly made pastries from the local bakery. Those aroma's leave a lasting impression in our minds to be talked about for years to come. However sad as it seems those days are nearly extinct; with the increased desire by people to move out and away from the cities. There are no more walks uptown to buy stamps from the post office, or to just sit on the sidewalk bench to watch the familiar faces passing by.
Unless of course your visiting Whiting, Indiana; where walks uptown are still the norm, and conversing with folks as you cross paths is customary. Whiting has been able to preserve it's small town charm in spite of it's bustling surrounding cities.Come join us for a visit; I'll save you a spot on the bench!
