There are two train stations to enter Ghent:
- Sint Pieters (Brussels-Bruges line):
This is the biggest station, but 30 minutes from the center. Here you can take a tram to the centre.
- Damport (Kortrijk-Antwerpen line):
This is a smaller station, but is closer to the centre (10 min walk).

They are planning major changes for the first one (only 300m from our doorstep) and it will take until 2015 (and beyond) before all work will be finished. This includes rearranging the rails, a new roof over the rails, a big open space (mall) under the rails, a new tram-station under the rails, a new busstation and an underground parking lot for 3000 cars and 7000 bicycles. Also a new square at the rear entrance a new connection to the highway and a long strip of tall buildings are in these plans.

mid-2005 : start of building a temporarely auto-car-park (above ground)
3-oct-2005 : information session about the new plans. Almost 1000 people came to listen.
1-jun-2006 : temporarely car-park is open now (3 levels). Soon the start of the underground parking can begin.
1-okt-2006 : New collector (water) is placed at kortrijksesteenweg.
