Here I am. The guy in the baseball cap standing the the plaza where Eva Peron greated the crowds. This was my first trip to South America and it was fascinating. I was told and read many things about Buenos Aires before taking the trip. But I was still not prepared for the surprise Buenos Aires held for me. I left Baltimore, Maryland in the midst of a snow and ice storm to arrive to hot tropical temperatures in just a matter of hours. Come join me as I walk the streets, dance the tango, and generally have a wonderful time in this great city. My traveling company, Mark (VT member hikerpark) and I had a wonderful time exploring this fascinating city.

Regardless of what any guide book may tell you, its necessary to have some knowlege of Spanish when visiting Argentina. Most of the people we met knew very little English. And also keep in mind that the Spanish spoken in Argentina is quite different from the Spanish taught in in the classroom. Mark knows some Spanish but he still had a difficult time with the language at times. It seems to be a combination of Spanish and Italian. Luckily for us Mark has knowledge of both languages, but it was difficult putting the two together.
