Mythology, Ruins, and so much more

Its difficult to describe my thougths on Athens. To be honest Athens was never on my must see list until I watched the 2004 Olympica on television. Every night they would close the broadcast with the cameras focused on the Acropolis with the night lights reflecting on its ancient ruins. I became more fascinated each night of the broadcast and eventually decided that I must see this city for myself.

I am so glad I made that decision. Athens is a beautiful city full of palm trees, ancient ruins, sunny afternoons. Its easy to get lost in the history and mythology of the city while you are there. The city takes you in and transports you to a different level from my experience. I tried not to prepare too much for the trip. I wanted to be surprised by what I would find. There are so many wonderful pictures on VT and in travel books, but I tried to avoid most of them before arriving. I really wanted to be surprised by what I would find.

Oh yeah, Athens has it all: It has history, and it's beautiful. It really reminds me of Los Angeles, I think it's the Los Angeles of Europe!
