Ice Hockey, EU celebrations and Lots of Parties

We arrived in Prague on May 31, 2004. What a great day to be introduced to Prague. We arrived amidst throngs of Ice Hocky fans arriving the the World Championships. On top of the hockey championships this was also the day that the people of Prague were preparing to celebrate the Czech Republics entry into the EU. So we had an evening of concerts, fireworks, and celebration on our first night in Prague.

Everything that I have read warned me that Prague was fast becoming over run with tourist. With all of the events going on it was certainly true that even before the big tourist season began, Prague was still overflowing with people. But unlike some other places I have visited the crowds of tourist did not make it unbearable. Most were celebrating and partying so it was a lot of fun for all.
Its almost impossible to post pictures or write tips that fairly describe Prague. The city is truely one of the most beautiful cities I have seen. It has been called the Paris of the east. In my opinion that is a very fair description. For me Prague is second only to Paris as my favorite city I have visited.

What a fantastic page you have here. I truly enjoyed reading your personal commentaries about Prague. I visit the city on regular basis because it's just two hours away from Wroclaw where I live. Time to create a page on it.
