Liverpool...home of The Beatles. Outside of church, nothing touched my life more as a teenager than the music of The Beatles. They arrived in America in 1963 when I was in the seventh grade. They disbanded in 1970 the year I graduated from high school. I read every book available about The Beatles over the years. I had read all about Liverpool, The Cavern Club, Mendips home of John Lennon's Aunt Mimi, the Dingle neighborhood where Ringo grew up. After all of these years of reading and fascination I finally had the opportunity to visit the city. I know there is a lot more to Liverpool than just The Beatles, but for me that is the reason I wanted to see it.
On this page is a picture of me at the new and renovated Cavern Club entrance. Although it was not the actual Cavern Club where The Beatles were discovered this renovated copy was close enough for me. What a thrill! |

Yaqui Thu Apr 30, 2009 05:42 UTC Liverpool looks wonderful! The information is always appreciated. My oldest sister was a huge Beatles fan. I can still hear the music blaring from her room:-) | londonlover Sat Jun 30, 2007 01:40 UTC Yes, it's basically the same tour I took! And I'm always the youngest one in the group who knows all the Beatles trivia. :) Nice photos. | lou31 Wed Jun 27, 2007 03:56 UTC Hello Larry...your Liverpool page was great. I like the Beatles but not a huge fan. Your love sure shines through in your words. Liverpool for me is associated with Helen Forester, author who wrote of her childhood in this notorious English city...cheers | KarenandCory Fri Jun 30, 2006 21:11 UTC Oh how my heart aches for Liverpool after reading this page! I too am a big Beatles fan. My two visits to Liverpool were far too short. |
