Although there is only only guy in a hat on this trip, I still wanted my guy in a hat picture for my VT page on London. So here I am in standing just outside of the Underground exit at Picadilly Circus. Like Times Square in New York, Picadilly Circus is at the very heart of London. Neon signs, traffice lights, cars with horns honking, tourists. Everything you would expect.

Here is my daughter Danielle getting her first glimpse of London. We both had such a great time on this trip. Here she is in the exact same spot I was just a few moments ago. Picadilly Circus, one the great intersections in the world. Restaurants, stores, theater you name it and you can find it at Picadilly Circus. Danielle spent a lot of her time a the Tower Records Store and the Virgin Mega Store at Picadilly Circus searching for those CD's that she had to pay imported prices for back at home in the U.S.

Every tourist who goes to London is obligated to take a picture of Big Ben. I know I had to have one. And I have seen so many VT pages with pictures of Big Ben. But I felt obligated to add one of my own. Although I have seen hundreds of pictures of Big Ben and have seen it in movies, on television and in commercials I still was not prepared for the actual size and beauty of the tower and clock. Its really overwhelming when you get that first look at the famous Big Ben. Just over to the left in the background is the London Eye. We did not get the opportunity to ride on the London Eye during our trip.

Much like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace is one of those must see places in London. And here I add another picture to the hundreds already on VT of Buckingham Palace. We were in London during August 2002. This was during the celebration of the Queens anniversary. We toured the Palace really enjoyed it. However we had one small mishap. We were in one of the Queens reception rooms. While there I laid down my umbrella and left it. And as I stated in my cover page for London, we were there for one of the worst rainfalls of the year in London. So we had to buy another umbrella on the street after we left the Palace. If you go to London and take a tour of Buckingham Palace and happen to see the Queen with a small dark blue folding umbrella would you please let her know its mine.

Here is Danielle at one the entrance gates to Buckingham Palace. Like everything else connected with the palace the gates are larger than life. They are quite beautiful with all of the gold and everything. They also make an ideal spot for a Kodak moment.

One of the must sees for all tourist in London. Danielle and I both enjoyed walking through the Abbey and seeing all of the crypts and memorials. It was like walking through a documented history book. It was difficult getting a good picture of Westminister Abbey because of the way it is located on the street. It was also a little smaller than I had anticipted.

One of the hightlights of our trip was visiting St. Pauls. This is one of the most beautiful churches in London. Although due to its location it is difficult to get a good picture of it.

Tower Bridge is really one of the most beautiful bridges I have seen. It is very famous and has been photographed millions of times. It is another one of those locations that is synonomous with London. We are standing just outside of the entrance to the London Tower with the bridge behind us. London is so full of great spots to take photographs. There is always something famous and beautiful in the background when you pose for a picture.

The Tower of London was definately one of our favorite stops in London. There is so much history to be obsorbed while you take the guided tour. The Beefeaters who lead the tour are really wonderful. They eagerly share stories of the Tower and keep you entertained and interested. They also do not mind posing for photographs. I guess its all in a days work for them.
