Luggage And Bags: Make sure to leave extra space in one or more of your bags. If you are like me, you want LOTS of souviners to bring home, so make certain there is ideal space left for such items.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Always pack something warm, even in Summer months, it tends to get chilly in Amterdam. And BE SURE to have good comfortable walking shoes, this is a MUST because you will be doing a lot of walking! It rains a lot too so make certain the shoes are very slip resistant:)
Toiletries & Medical Supplies: A WASHCLOTH is definitely a necessity to pack. And always take cold meds, just in case.
Photo Equipment: Always take a good camera, I have learned after two trips, that I WILL HAVE a digital next time:)
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: UMBRELLA, absolutely necessary!!

Luggage And Bags: Holland runs on 220 volts of electricity (North America uses 110 volts). So you'll need to take with you a small voltage transformer (now available in drug and appliance stores or by mail order) that plugs into the round-holed European electrical outlet and converts the Dutch voltage from 220V down to 110V for any small appliance up to 1,500 watts. Don't try to plug an American appliance directly into a European outlet without a transformer; you may ruin your appliance and possibly even start a fire.
Miscellaneous: However, some American appliances (such as some electric shavers) are engineered to operate on either 110V or 220V, but even with these you'll usually need to buy a plug adapter.

Miscellaneous: Keeping a journal of the daily activities with detailed information about everthing that happened each day. Reading it is like retracing my steps and reliving my trip all over again, with each word another step or two back in paradise:) **My daily journals of my trips to mecca, along with photos are available to read in my travelogues at the bottom of my Amsterdam page.**

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: The weather in Amsterdam is kind of freaky, one minute the sun is shining with a brisk wind and the next minute it can be raining with bone-chilling winds, so it can be very unpredictable. So no matter what time of year bring some warm clothing, like a coat or jacket. Also good walking shoes are very important because you will be doing a LOT of walking. The city itself is not very big in area so walking most of it is not impossible but in fact very doable.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Just always be prepared for rain, so take a good, sturdy umbrella because the wind is always whipping through those alley-like streets.
