Definitely take a canal boat cruise, very nice change of pace, slow and leisurely. Unique view of the city and a way to get great photos, weather permitting-of course:)!

Directions: The tours that depart near Central Station are generally more crowded. Go for the ones farther out in the city, they tend to be more comfortable with less people so you can get better photos.

The Artis Zoo is very large and full of every kind of animal you can imagine!! Also there is an aquarium, a museum and a planetarium which are all very interesting to see. In addition, Artis is also a botanical garden with a diversity of plants, trees and shrubs that make up the plant kingdom.

Take a walk through the infamous Red Light Distict. Even if you are not looking for a lady to sample, it is a trip to see!! If however you have indeed come to revel in all the seediness, there's no better time to appreciate the Red Light District than at night. Though prostitutes work all through the day, it's at night that the streets actually take on a red radiance. The main streets get so thick with people you can hardly walk. There are live sex shows in which actors perform choreographed fantasies on stage and audience members can participate on a volunteer basis. The most famous live sex show takes place at Casa Rosso, where 25 euros will buy you admission.

Just walking around enjoying all the street scene can be very entertaining. There are people from all walks of life and it is quite an adventure to be around so many different nationalities and cutlure all at once, it can be shocking.

Go to a coffeeshop and purchase some nice marijuana or hash to smoke! The Smokey Coffeeshop is a huge place with several pool tables and lots of room to chill out, have a drink (alcohol) relax and smoke.

Sometimes there will be a fair/carnival on Dam Square with several fun amusement rides. One is the huge ferris wheel which is very nice to ride at night and see the city all lit up and it can be quite a fun experience.
