Ahh the mediterranean...
Tunisia is filled with friendly smiles, music, mint tea, couscous, tourists and many summer weddings.
The best beaches are in the smaller villages out of the touristic sphere of Hammamet, you can try spear fishing and catch dinner (lobster, octopus and fish) or you can simply take a look at what is going on under water with mask and fins. There are also locals with boats available for hire for the day and they can be a good source of tips for the perfect catch or view. If you are set on a more elaborous spa incentive, the hotels and some other spas (Korbus; known for the nat'l hot sources) offer great deals on full body massages and therapeutic mud baths.
The Sahara desert is a definite must as well, you can hire a 4x4 for a few days or join an excursion set up by one of the hotels on camel.
Meet the locals, you never know who might be kind enough to invite you to a wedding or a meal at home. |
