"Aloha . . . don't pronounce the "h"" Aloha by TashieKitten

Pronounce it like a local!

First, it's pronounced "uh-low-uh", not like the familiar Hawai'ian greeting.

Aloha is just 30 minutes away from Portland but not nearly as huge so, you can see why I do most of my writing about Portland. Portland's an actual city, and honestly, I'm not quite sure if Aloha has garnered that status yet. It was kind of a subsection of Beaverton, using Beaverton's police and such but it could be a city now.

I live at the very tippy edge of the URBAN GROWTH BOUNDARY, which is the boundary for urban sprawl and makes the Portland Metro Area a model for other cities in the U.S. in regard to urban planning. That said, across the street from my new condo is a field. This used to be farm land. And once you cross the street that's pretty much all it can be, according to the law (for now-the boundary can always be changed but it has to go through the proper channels.) Anyhow, it used to be farm land and now it's suburbia.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Nearly Rural Living; No Multnomah Co. Tax
  • Cons:Too far from everything.
  • In a nutshell:I want to move to Portland.
