The Summer of 2009 was the first in several years in which we had no major trip plans and sadly we experienced the loss of two of our beloved pets this Summer. While the spring was filled with a few overnights, one long weekend, and many day trips to Pennsylvania for our daughter's volleyball travel season, we spent virtually the whole Summer of 2009 at home. This last weekend of Summer concluding with the Labor Day holiday on Monday provided the opportunity to have a little fun for one day.
On a beautiful morning we pointed our car in a southerly direction, crossing the Delaware Memorial Bridge into Delaware with the purpose of driving Rt. 113 South to visit Bethany Beach at the far southern end of the state, then to return North by way of Dewey Beach, Rehobeth Beach and Lewes, Delaware. We had to leave our hope of crossing over into New Jersey on the Cape May ferry for another time. However, the good roads provided an easy path to this new part of Delaware which we had yet to visit and explore, and though it was a very long day trip, I enjoyed nearly every minute.
