Inishmore is a very touristy place. When we were there in May 2002, the island was packed with tourists, especially young people. And we learned that it was the peak season then.

This long strip of an island is scattered with villages along the sheltered northerly coast. It is rich with ancient sites, and you can see a patterning of stone - some are just the formation of the land and some are stones walls built on this tilted plateau.

If you take a good look at the island, you'll find that the land slants up to the southern edge, where tremendous cliffs rip along the entire length of the island and you can hear the constant pounding of the waves below.

I loved Inishmore! Such a beautiful place. You got lucky with the weather, it seems - it was pouring with howling winds when I went there...
