WHAT I KNOW ABOUT BUDAPEST BUDAPEST is also known as the Paris of the East (Europe) for the parks, monument and avenue. Well known for the Royal Palace and the houses of parliament similar to what exist in the Westminster. Danube River is probably most famous of all in Europe, being the sources of transportation during the medieval time town to town which now known as Germany and Austria.
Budapest is divided to two which is 'Buda' and 'Pest'. Generally, people refers Buda as the posh area. Meanwhile Pest is the right opposite of Buda. I think once i heard from the locals that Budapest also known once as 'Bangkok of Europe' but i dont see much activities there probably not the right place i went. Hungarian is very unique a mix culture from the Austrian border and the previous invasion from the Turks. This obviously reflects to the hungarian lifestyle today such the massage spa Turkish influenced and luxury pastries from the Austrian. Goulash recipe, most famous ingredients is used is Paprika. |
HOW WAS THE TRIP FANTASTIC TRIP. We went on the Nov 13, 2004 to coincide with my birthday which falls on the 15. Flights are cheap in the winter, so we flew with Easyjet and at least 2 1/2hours flight from Gatwick. The moment we arrived, it was raining and a glimpse of budapest plantation from above which very much recflects how miserable in the winter. I kept my mind positive. Budapest has just joined the EU and you never expected their current Ferihegy airport is modern and sophisticated
Hungarian is catching in hospitality and this is obvious, customer service available on arrival to provides information of the city and best way to travel. We got a Budapest Card for 3 days at GBP13 which allows you to used buses, trams and metro and includes return journey airport and city. |

WHAT I THINK ABOUT BUDAPEST I THINK, Budapest is one of the beautiful city in the world when comes to night. I enjoyed looking at the night view of the Royal Palace(Budavari Palota)and the Houses of Parliment (Orszaghaz). Those who stayed in Intercontinental Budapest probably has the best opportunity having a view on a comfort bed.
At the Buda hill, you get a magnificent view of Danube river and bridges. It's amazing. We enjoyed the main market, having cup of coffee and pastries. But i wouldnt advice anyone who wish to come to Budapest in winter season. Limited daylights and frequent rains didnt stop us from enjoying the city sights. We even managed to go to Aquincum Museum, Romans ruins from outside as it was close in winter(next time findout before going). Huge malls such West End Shopping centre is the most places we spent money and time. |
