- MAY 2006 - AMAZING THAILAND! The nation motto reflected on my Bangkok experience. Not just amazing, but awesome, fabulous and challenging. Anyone who is not keen to chilli, Thai food be would your worst nightmare. I do enjoyed it very much, especially the culture, the historical places, and the great hospitality of thai except the weather (high humidity).

FACTS ON THAILAND Thailand covers an area of 514,000 sqkm asnd has a population of about 64 million. Most Thai citizens, approx. 95% are Buddhists. Muslims, Christians and Hindus are represented in the remaining 5%
Geographically, Thailand is divided into four main regions: the Central Plains, the North, the Northeast and the South. The majority of the population lives in the fertile Central Plains where the capital city, BANGKOK, is located. The North with Thailand's second largest city, Chiang Mai, is in a region of mountains and fertile valleys. In contrast to the Central and the Northern region, the Northeast has harsh climatic conditions and is the most infertile region of Thailand. The South has become famous for its fine beaches and idyllic limestone islands.
Thailand can proudly proclaim that is has never been colonized like any SE ASIA neighboring countries. A positive aspect of this is that it retains its unique culture, traditions, language and alphabet. This, however also means that in some local communities English is not widely known. Please be a little forgiving if Thais sometimes do not understand you.
Thailand is very rich landscapes as well as in cultural heritage and it offer a great variety of entertainment. Whatever activity, Thais believe that life should always be 'sanuk' or 'fun'. Sanuk can be found in all things - from eating to simply going for a stroll with friends.courtesy of Diethelm Travel for Thailand Tourism________________________________ _______________________________________ |
PLANNING TO GO STOPOVER
Bangkok is the one of the great stopover city besides of Singapore. So if you ever travelling across Asia and Australia or vice versa, you can actually plan your days to visit at Bangkok or other parts of Thailand to maximise most of your flight ticket and your holiday.
Thai Airways, Qantas, British Airways and Gulf Air are among main airlines worth checking out.
WHEN TO GO
Generally, Bangkok and the rest region at South East Asia, well known for the humidity throughout the year. But try to avoid June - November because these are the rainy season in Bangkok, and the city is well known for flood. This doesnt means that it will rain everyday for the whole season, but when rain drops; it will be a very heavy rain, thats what we call tropical rain.
Positive aspect of travelling during these season month, airfare can be very cheap except some blockout dates for special events and school holiday. info shared with Krista________________________________ _______________________________________ |
