North Carolina is definately on its way up. For a decade now is has been attracting big business and families from all over the country. Therefore, it is home to vibrant cities, great shopping, and intelligant people. While it has its downsides(it is still definately a Southern State with its share of rednecks, un-modern rural areas, and a mentality all its own), it remains a tourist destination for many people, like my family. While I have traversed the state many times over and have friends in many places, I still prefer the beaches north of Wilmington. As a family traditon, we rent a house in Emerald Isle and its there that many of my best NC memories were made! Raleigh is still trying to find itself, and Charlotte...well they just can't seem to shake their Atlanta inferiority complex!(Keep trying guys! someday you will be the capitol of the south!) Asheville is a refreshing retreat away from the hustle and buslte of the boring Piedmont region. It is home to Biltmore Estate and the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains. So don't be fooled by the lonley aura driving I-95 gives off. There is more to North Cackilacky than tobacoo fields, pine forests and people with that southern drawl... |
