| Ellen is in there somewhere!! |
I was fortunate to have the privilege to welcome back Ellen Macarthur to Falmouth from her record breaking sail around the world.
It was a wonderful day 1000s of people attended and a fantastic atmosphere. There was so much media attention there, 5 helicopters circling above us filming, plus countless on the ground crews interviewing people & waiting for their chance to interview Ellen herself.

| | “Ellen Macarthur, crossed the finish line off Ushant at 22:29:17 GMT (Monday, 7.2.05) to set a new solo, non-stop round the world record of 71 days, 14 hours, 18 minutes and 33 seconds. Macarthur has taken 1 day, 8 hours, 35 minutes, 49 seconds off the previous fastest 72 day, 22 hours, 54 minute solo time of Francis Joyon (Joyon finished his record attempt on 3.2.04).” ( Information taken from her web site)

| | One of my favourite memories was standing next to an old lady maybe in her late 70s early 80s, watching Ellen sail in to the harbour, she turned to me & said “I feel so emotional, Ellen is such a fantastic woman & I feel so proud ” with that a tear ran down her cheek as she struggled to contain herself. I have to admit I felt it too.
