San Michele is the island cemetery of Venice, I have to admit we didnt actually get off here, but we did sail past a few times.
One of the times we were passing we saw a boat with a coffin on it docking, obviously on its was to be buried on the island. Which was a strange sight to see.
The church of San Michele was built in 1469, and was one of Venice's first renaissance building.
On our next Venice trip I will definately stop off. |
