"Royal Compiegne" Compiègne by freya_heaven

Compiègne Travel Guide: 24 reviews and 54 photos

Compiegne is a small city only 80km north of Paris. For centurys it was the country home for French Royalty, surrounded by the beautiful Forest of Compiegne. Apparently Compiegne is very popular with day trippers from Paris at the weekend.

Just curious to cleirfy: the carriage on display is a modern replica or an actual car (similiar to the one bombed in Germany) from the same train that Petain actually used? Thank you for your tips!

An absolutely FANTASTIC page, Nicola! Your tips and photos are very enticing, makes me want to visit this beautiful place! I was also interested to read your history of that WWI railway armistice car. Looks like a wonderful holiday spot!
