Sitting on the boarder is the Druze village of Madjal Shams. This is the largest settlement in the Golan heights or Muhafazat al Qunaytirah.

Annexed in to present day Israel in 1967 during the 6 day war, the Druze people of this village are very independent, refusing to take Israeli citizenship & are very pro Syrian.

We've been there (again) last week, Standing by the electric border fence, we got some signs from the Syrian side and we waved back at them, it felt great, I just wish this situation to be over already.

I can see why "sun" is in the name of this city - it looks hot here! This is the first I've heard of the Druze religion, very interesting.
