Majdal Shams
Annexed in to present day Israel in 1967 during the 6 day war, the Druze people of this village are very independent, refusing to take Israeli citizenship & are very pro Syrian.

Interesting read ... have to check out this site about the Druze religion.
A very interesting local custom tip on Druze religion, I didn't know.
Great incentive indeed. Very interesting page.
We've been there (again) last week, Standing by the electric border fence, we got some signs from the Syrian side and we waved back at them, it felt great, I just wish this situation to be over already.
How Hindu-reincarnation was incorporated into Druze religion is a big mystery. Great start ;-)
I can see why "sun" is in the name of this city - it looks hot here! This is the first I've heard of the Druze religion, very interesting.
Enjoyable because I always wondered about the Druze religion and you answered the questions I had. Also, I hear about the Golan Heights, and now through your photo, I have seen it.
Funny mental image of people shouting over the border! q*o*p
