Before I arrived I got myself prepared for the shock of being in a Middle Eastern city, (as I was initally totally unprepared for the manicness of Cairo! ), busy, very noisy, people just everywhere, but It felt more like a Provincial City rather like a Capital (in my books thats a compliment!). The people were so friendly
I dont feel I really got to grips will Amman, (Ha....... excuse the pun) so I think another visit in the future is on the cards.

Do u think its worth going to Amman for a quick visit or wait until on way to Damascus? As for the cafes-well its a mens cafe-women go to nicer cafes for families&women-he prob got his knickers in a knot after being so used to boxed thinkg in his domain!
Great to hear that Amman looks like provincional city :-) Strange unfriendly cafe... thanks for sharing, it never happened to me in any Muslim country but I am a guy.
Wonderful page, hehe but the signer in the picture is Egyptian, but yeah lot's of people like him in Jordan LOL
Thanx for your detailed information... I really appreciate!! This summer I am going there for my first solo backpack trip...Wish me luck ^_^
Did a great job on Jordan pages... I actually lived there for three years ... in West Amman - Shmensani area. By the way, I can translate the song for you :-) He's supposed to be very famous Egyptian singer.
great page!
Excellent information Nicola, thanks for sharing.
The name you are looking for is Abdallah mosque... It's relatively recent and is/was the biggest one in Amman. The actual king is indeed building an even bigger one...
Off to Jordan for a few days next week, so thanks very much for the tips! Sorry to hear about the few bad experiences, guess us men have it easy sometimes!
Great stories from Amman! I'm thinking of visiting there some time in the future... Luckily, I don't have fair hair!!! :))
