It is possible to get to the top of St Georges Bell tower for some great town views.

Make sure they are not due to be ringing! (~_~)

Madaba Mosaic

Madaba is most famous for its wonderful mosaics of Palestine and Lower Egypt.

Originally the map was an amazing 25 by 5 meters, made with over 2 million peices.

Sadly now it is far from complete, but you can stil make out many places and features including the Nile River, Dead Sea, a map of Jerusalem which includes the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Staff of Moses

I cant find a Mount Nebo page so I have included it in my Madaba page.

Mount Nebo is only about 10km west of Madaba. There is a Fransiscan chapel type building on the peak of Mount Nebo, which houses remains of a church and monastry, and a Mosaic.

The Staff of moses is very impressive overlooking the Jordainian Valley and dead Sea

Mount Nebo

The Fransiscan Fathers bought this site at Mount Nebo in the 1930s, and have since excavated the the ruins of a church and a Monastry.

in 393 AD a church was reported to be on this site, which by the 6th century had become a large Bazantine Church and Babtisry.

Thr found ruins are house in the building in the Photo

Mount nebo Ruins

The chapel on top of Mount Nebo Houses the remains of of the Church and Monastery.

Its a bit of a strange set up, I think a new structure has been put in side the chapel, which is what you can see in the photo

Me & Chapel

This is the Main Mosaic, is 3 by 9 meters.

It is well preserved, with pictures of wine making, hunters, as well as animals such as Hens, Sheep Panther, Bear, Fox Lion
