Sea of Galilee

by freya_heaven - last update: Feb 23, 2004

I loved the Sea of Galilee, i first visited Tiberias when we were backpacking and then a few months later ended up on a Kibbutz only half an hour up the road, so I visited quite a few times over my stay in Israel. I used to go there to write my letters home to family & friends in a cafe looking over the water.............

Although Tiberias dates as far back as 20AD there is little history to see about the town, sadly. Its quite commercial and very set up for the tourist trade. All that said go out of the town a little way & its so much quieter & wonderfuly peaceful looking over the lake & surrounding Mountains.

The lake itself has at least 3 names, Sea of Galilee, Lake Tiberias and Kinneret

Who would have thought that there would be such a party place here? The sea sounds very relaxing.
