The Baths of Aphrodite are situated on the West side of the Island, 8km from Polis.
Lovely area & a good starting point for the coastal path.
This where Aphrodite supposedly took a bath before her marraige. I have to admit I was slightly disapointed once I got here as it was just a trickle of a steam leading in to the small pool you see in the photo. I was expecting a something a bit grander, as it is supposed to be one of the must see sights of Cyprus.
Still if it is a "Must see" you Must see it! (~_~)

The mosque was built on this site as this is where Umm Haram,( the Porophet Mohammeds Aunt) died when she accompanied her husband when the Arabs invaded Cyprus. Also The King of Jordans Great Grandmother, Chadija, Is buried here.

Many places in Cyprus have legends & storys begind their making & importance. The Salt Lake at Larnaca is the same.
According to legend St lazaros asked on old woman for food & drink, she refused claiming her vines had all dies. St Lazaros replied "may your vined be dry & be a salt lake for ever more". Hence a salt lake inland.
In reality the sea water penetrates the porous rock between the sea & lake area.
In the winter the lake is covered with pink flamingoes. When the lake dries up for the summer the flamingoes continue their migration

Kolossi Castle is situated 15km south west of Limassol. It is believed to have been built in the 13th century on land given to the Knights Hospitaller as a thank you for support against Arab invaders.
Apart from the castle to wander around, there is a museum & castle gift shop.

The fort at Larnica was built by the Turks in 1625. Although built as a fortress, it has mainly been used as a prison. Now it is a museum.
It has a wonderful position of being right on the seafront with great views over the med & Larnica waterfront
