Luggage And Bags: A rucksack is ssential for your picnic lunch/ water etc- even if you are not much of a walker you are bound to go walking here.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Good walking shoes/ boots- trainers are not enough.Also good waterproofs, it rains a lot here. Warm hat and gloves for the higher peaks, plenty of dry comfortable clothes to walk in.

Toiletries & Medical Supplies: Blister treatments, insect repellants, treatments for bites/ scratches.

Photo Equipment: Twice as much as you think that you will need- the scenery is so stunning you will never stop taking photos wherever you go.


Miscellaneous: Plenty of good maps- also do your research before you go, its easy to get lost.

Miscellaneous: Whilst I was in the lake district I picked up a magazine called "LAKES AND CUMBRIA TODAY", It only cost £1.00 and it was a brilliant source of information, where to eat, where to stay, where to visit, safety tips and it even has details of walks with maps!- I t is gonna be my essential companion whenever I visit the lake district from now on.
