My frequent visits to London. I used to visit London quite often when I was in the UK (at least 5 times a year, excluding the trips to the airports)! Usually I would go there as day trips and sometimes over the weekend. I love shopping at Oxford Street, Regent Street, Piccadilly, etc. Sometimes, I would make a day trip to London just to get away on a Saturday. On a warm sunny day, I would go to the Park (Hyde Park, Regent's Park, St. James Park or Green Park) and find somewhere to sit down and read, or enjoy watching people passing by. I also enjoyed going to St. Katherine's dock (near Tower Bridge) to sit in a cafe, sipping a cuppa coffee and people watch or read.
I also enjoyed taking pictures in London. Be it a sunny day with clear blue sky, or rainy day with gloomy and overcast sky, London offers the beauty of its own. I haven't got sick of taking pictures in London.
When I am in the mood for shopping, I will start my shopping spree from Marble Arch, along Oxford Street, to Regent's Street and finally arriving in Piccadilly Circus. If I still have the strength, I walk and shop around Leicester Square, then Covent Garden. If there's no sale going on, I will mostly window shop. Sometimes, if I got a one day travelpass on the tube, I will make a trip to Harrods for food shopping. Big and interesting food hall in Harrods at reasonable prices are the reasons I like to visit. I have not visited the ladies in Harrods though cos it's expensive (GBP1 per entry. The amount of money can be a meal for myself in my country). Wonder how luxury it is in there. |
Memorable meet-up. After spending a few years in the UK, and have been on VT for some time, I decided to meet some friends whom I have been chatting with on VT. I met phil_uk_net and pmarshuk, both are called Phil in summer 2003. We met and had a cuppa coffee at a cafe at a church near Tralfagar Square. Then we proceed to Belgo Central for our dinner. After dinner, we were off to an English pub for a drink... |
Most memorable trip to London. I was in London during the Queen Jubilee Thanksgiving (June 2002) to join in the crowd, and enjoyed the atmosphere and be part of history. :-) For pictures of the Queen Jubilee, have a look at my Travelogue. |
