Summer in Paris.

by A2002 - last update: Apr 4, 2005

4 memorable and relaxing days in Paris.

Eiffel Tower on a hot afternoon.
After many months of hard work in the lab, we decided to visit Paris when Terence visited me in the UK in summer (July 03). This was not our first time to Paris. We were there in July 98 during our backpacking trip around Europe.

It was a very different experience the second time in Paris. It was a more relaxing trip since we have a lot of time. We can take our time to wake up in the morning, take our time for breakfast, and take our time to explore on the public transport. We had good food in restaurants too - Thanks for the recommendations by other VT-ers.

We did lots of sight-seeing. Since we had already visited the most famous museums back in 98, we decided not to visit anymore museums. Europe offers many museums and it gets a bit tiring from visiting so many museums. This time, we made a trip to Versailles to visit the famous Chateau.
Eiffel Tower at sunset.
Day 1:
Arrive our hotel in the very hot summer afternoon. Have some rest before going out for some sight-seeing. Saw the Eiffel at sunset, the Opera house at night, the Lourve at night. An enjoyable dinner at Chez Papa.

Day 2:
A day in Versailles visiting the famous Chateau. Information about the Chateau is very vague. The information that you will get is to buy a day pass for Euro20. I felt cheated as the day pass does not save you much money for entrance fee Furthermore, you pay more to get to the uninteresting Trianon (though entrance to the Trianon is included in the day pass)... not worth getting hte day pass and not worth making the efforts to get to the Trianon. Just pay for the entrance to the two rooms for Euro11,50. The Trianon are just tourists trap.

Day 3:
Sight-seeing to Sacre Couer, Monmartre area, and the Notre Dame area.

Day 4:
Some last minute shopping and then travel to CDG to catch that flight back.
Eiffel Tower at night.

Prefer Paris by night.

Eiffel Tower seems to be the monument not to missed by tourists. It seems like the symbol of Paris. There is usually long queues to go up the tower to catch a bird's eye view of Paris. We saw the Eiffel Tower at different times of the day - in the hot afternoon, at sunset, and at night. I prefer the view at night when the tower will be beautifully lit.

Eiffel Tower is the symbol of Paris. We prefer sight-seeing around Paris at night to see the beautifully lit buildings. It will not be too hot at night during the hot summer days too and make strolling around more comfortable.
There are loads of information about Paris on VT. On my page, I will share my photos and write about some tips which I did not find on VT. I will write about my experience and thoughts too.
