Carrefourre, Giants, Makro... There are several hypermarkets in and around JB, attracting many shoppers from across the causeway. During the weekends, these hypermarkets will be very crowded with shoppers buying their groceries for the week ahead... The hypermarkets will not be easily accessible by public transport and are not just across the causeway. They are about 20 minutes drive from the causeway on the highway, depending on traffic conditions.
What To Buy: Usually, things to buy here are normal groceries such as milk, meat, vegetables, fruits, bakeries, biscuits, etc, etc... During the festive seasons, there will be stalls selling festive goodies. The major festive seasons are Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali, mooncake festival, etc...
What To Pay: Lower in price for some products as compared to other shops. Not everything are cheaper...

Name of Shop: Holiday Plaza.
Holiday Plaza is the second oldest shopping mall in JB, and it still remains as a very popular shopping mall. There are many small shops selling VCDs, DVDs, etc and other computer related products. You can shop around for mobile phones here, and even second hands too. There are also many fashion shops for clothes and shoes. I used to get my hair cut at the top most floor, however, it is getting too popular nowadays. You will not go hungry will shopping around Holiday Plaza. For quick bites, there are KFC and MacDonalds. There's also a hawker center for some hot food. There are many coffee shops and restaurants along the road opposite HOliday Plaza... So you will not go hungry...

Name of Shop: Pelangi Mall.
Pelangi Mall is a pink colored building in Pelangi. It is quite near to the causeway, but not within walking distance though. This is the third oldest shopping mall after Holiday Plaza in JB. I like to do my shopping here for festive goodies too. On the ground floor, there will be many many make shifts stalls during the festive season selling many different types of goodies. Best of all, you can try them.. hehe.. I can have a free meal here trying all the festive goodies from the different stalls.

Name of Shop: City Square.
City Square is the nearest shopping mall to the causeway. It is quite a new and modern shopping mall in JB. This is one of my favourite place to shop in, especially during the Mega sale. Clothes, shoes, bags, cosmetics, etc... I can spend a day here shopping and eating. :-) Sometimes I like to watch the world go by sitting in an air-conditioned cafe, sipping a cuppa coffee... Relax, eih?

Name of Shop: Angsana Shopping Complex.
If you want to buy kebaya, sarong, songkok, etc, and other Malay fashion, there are a number of shops in Angsana. There's also a wedding photography shop for a Malay wedding there. Go have a look. For food when you are hungry, there are more selections at the basement. Usual fast food restaurants, such as, KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, are clustered togather. I personally like shopping there. Usually I will shop for groceries there or just have a walk around.
What To Buy: I usually buy my groceries here since it is near my home in JB. It is not very expensive and not so crowded.
