A Whirlwind Tour of Laos

by D_Shannon - last update: Oct 17, 2003

The Mekong River
I had 12 days to visit Chiang Mai, Thailand, but while I was there, I had an irresistable urge to go to Laos.

People said I was crazy to go with so little planning and even less time. I ignored them. In a matter of days I made my way from Chiang Mai to Chiang Khong, across the Mekong River into Laos, and then south to Luang Prabang, Vang Vien, and Vientiane, and then, finally, back into Thailand via the Freedom Bridge. This whirlwind tour of Laos included exhilerating highs and almost devestating lows, and left me with memories of the experience of a lifetime.
The Mekong River
Of course I wish I had more time. But I'm so glad I went. Sometimes, the travel is the trip!
