Perth is the capital of Australias largest state, Western Australia, or WA as it's commonly known. About 1.3 million out of 1.8 million people in WA live in Perth.
The center of perth is fairly compact and located on the north side of the Swan River and south of the railway. This is also where the main shopping complexes are situated.
From Kings park you get a really awesome view of Perth's skyline and the Swan river. Very close to the city center and easy to reach. Just take a free CAT and take a short walk.
Just North of the railway you'll find Northbridge where all the pubs and restaurants are located. See my tips and travelogues for more information.
