New York City certainly live up to its reputation of being a busy, fun, noisy City.
I have have taken two trips to New York, once in July 2003 and just recently as a birthday treat in November 2004.
My best advice would be to plan your trip carefully and use the subway to its fullest. It's by far the cheapest way of getting around town. You can't really get lost because of the way the place has been planned.
We rented an furnished apartment on our last visit, on West 49th Street, which is basically just behind the Waldorf hotel. Excellent place with large rooms, unlike the hotel we stayed in on our first visit. A great location to see all the sights and even take in a bit of exercise in the way of ice skating at the Rockafeller Plaza. |
| | First visit in July 2003 Went first time to New York for the Manchester United USA 2003 Tour.
Played Juventus in Giants Stadium on 31 July 2003, Score 3-0. Just a friendly pre season warm up but played well. A good first team squad was in action.
We arrived from Los Angeles and spent a few days here before taking the train to Philadelphia. Far too hot a steamy but managed to get around all the places that need to be seen. |
Second visit in November 2004 We always said that we would come back when the weather wasn't to hot and steamy as in July and so it was in a cold, but sunny late November that we came back for a birthday treat.
No football this time..."part timer" you cry! | | |

You can visit "The Apple" many times and never have the same trip twice" | | Cons: | "The taxi drivers are a tad too keen to use their horns in the middle of the night!" | | In A Nutshell: | "Don't forget your ear plugs as you will need to sleep well to enjoy all that this City has to offer" |
