Beautiful Bridges

North Portugal. Nice and cheap with friendly natives.

My third visit to Porto was for the UEFA Champions League Knockout Round, 1st leg..

Manchester United played FC Porto in the Estádio do Dragão on 25 February 2004. United lost 2-1. United went on draw the second leg at Old Trafford due to a late goal and went out of the competition.

My second visit to Porto was for the UEFA Champions League Phase two Group A game.

Manchester United played Boavista FC in the Estadio Do Bessa on 19 March 2002. United managed an easy 3-0 win.

My first visit to Porto was for the UEFA Champions League Quarter Final, 2nd leg..

Manchester United played FC Porto in the Estádio Das Antas on 19 March 1997. The ground itself was right run down affair with there being a huge mass of people trying to get into the away section of the ground. I managed to get in eventually after about 30 minutes had been played in the first half. Fortunately now they have moved stadiums.

The match score ended up as a 0-0 draw but, as we had already won the first leg back at Old Trafford by 4-0, we qualified for the semi final and had a trip to Dortmund.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Relaxing on the beach, drinking the Port
Cons:The over zealous police
