I think it really depends on which building of Patong Resort you are staying at, it could be really different experience then. The first night we were put in the old building's delux room. First thing I saw in the room was cockroach. The room smelled moldy. It was very old decoration. I didn't like it at all. We complained about it the next day and they moved us to the same priced delux room at their new building with a gorgeous garden view. It was so much better there and the room was clean and modern. So, if you stay at Patong resort, always ask for the room at the new building.
Unique Qualities: 1) Great location - there are easy accesses to the beach, bangla road, mall.
2) Good breakfast - many choices.
3) Service is wonderful. The bellboys were so nice to us and had gone out of their way to help us on a few occasions.
