Mas arései poli na kánoume voltes stin Athina! No Santorini, no Zakynthos... but how could we, when snowflakes were falling over the Parthenon?
It was great to see what Athens is like. Pictures and movies and stories told by other people were never enough for me to form a clear picture of what I would find beyond the ruins of Ancient Greece.
Now I know that Athens is another kind of Rio, chaotic sometimes, but nice and pleasant in some areas (Kolonáki is one of the most charming places I have seen). It was very dusty on those pre-Olympic Games days, but it was nice to have that experience and that story to tell.
A great city, a funny language, good Greek food, good Greek music (a pleasant surprise, by the way), and above all, good company! |
