Restaurant Bahnhof Weissenbühl - Bern

Restaurant Bahnhof Weissenbühl

Restaurant Bahnhof Weissenbühl: Everything Local

Restautant Bahnhof Weissenbühl is exactly what it says it is - a restaurant at the railway station, in this case, across from it. There is a comfortable and shady outside seating area which is lovely in the summer and the restaurant indoors is very homely. They serve good local beer - Felsenau and Egger Bier Worb.

Favorite Dish: The daily specials are highly recommendable and are good for the budget - a full meal with soup or salad and a main course costs Sfr. 16.50. On Sunday there is a surprise menu for Sfr. 32.- and the portions are big. It is a good place for anyone looking for local culture and colour!

Address: Chutzenstrasse 30, 3007 Bern

Comparison: about average

Directions: To get to there, take the number 3 Tram, direction Weissenbühl to the Beaumont stop. Follow the tram lines to the next crossing and follow the sign to the railway station - about 2 minutes walk.

My Favorite Place - Bern

Ristorante La Nonna: Blues and Italian Food

La Nonna and the adjoining Blues Bar is a place where onee can eat Italian food that is simple and homemade. All the pasta and the pizza pastry is made at the restaurant and isn't factory produce. The lunch menues are good value for money - between 18.- and 25.- Swiss Francs per person - you get a starter, a salad and a main course, there a three or four menues a day and it changes daily. Portions are large and for a person with a little appetite a small pizza for 13.- to 15.- Francs is more than enough. A large pizza will feed two people. There are excellent housewines to choose from. The restaurant is split into two sections - La Nonna and Blues Bar. The menues in both places are the same, though the Blues Bar is more the place where people meet after work and in keeping with the name, blues music and a DJ every second Saturday. The atomosphere is casual and for someone new to Bern definately worth a visit.

Favorite Dish: My personal favorite is Gnocci in gorgonzola sauce. As this isn't really everyone's favorite, I can recommend the pizzas and the risotto.
