I first visited Banff back in August 1998 with a friend of mine, BGK, that I worked with. At the time, we were working in the audit department for a Texas based telecommunications company that had a controlling interest in BC Tel. Naturally, BC Tel needed to be audited by their parent company, but why in the world that parent company decided to send Keith and I is beyond me. Regardless, we spent five to six weeks in Vancouver, BC with opportunities to travel anywhere on the weekends (as long it was cheaper than flying us back to Dallas, TX). Banff was one of our weekend destinations.

BGK and I had the entire weekend planned out. He had been to Banff once before and absolutely needed to see Kaoru, so, Sushi House was high on the list of places to go to as soon as we got in. And then, there is Yoho National Park, which is actually in British Columbia, but only a 30 to 40 minute drive from Banff. Here we had big plans of hiking high into the mountains on Saturday and then get back to Banff to party our brains out that night. Sunday we would sleep in and take it easy before heading back down to the airport in Calgary to fly back to Vancouver for work on Monday.

Naturally, our weekend didn’t go as planned…the trials and tribulations are contained herein these pages of Banff, Alberta with additional commentary on my Yoho National Park pages.

Recently, I returned to Banff in July of 2002. Again with BGK; and, this time, Sabrina his much better half. So, these pages will also chronicle the mad-capped adventures from this trip as well.
