| Portsmouth and the Piscataqua River. |
|
| The Moran Tugs on the Piscataqua |
Portsmouth is one of my favorite cities in New England!!! Situated on the western bank where the Piscataqua River meets the Atlantic Ocean, Portsmouth's legacy is tied to the sea and is deeply rooted in the United States Navy's Submarine Program. The area was first settled by Europeans in the 1600s, flourished in the 1700 and 1800s and has preserved much of its charm into the 20th and 21st centuries. It is an excellent town to escape to for two or three days. Whether pub crawling through the streets of downtown or gorging at one of the many restuarants, Portsmouth is just a cool town to be in. |
