View of Gloucester from across the bay
Welcome to Gloucester located on Cape Ann, Massachusetts. Gloucester has a very rich, and sometimes tragic, history with the sea. The fishing industry in Gloucester dates back into the early 1600s being one of the most prominent port cities in the "new world.”
Today, this legacy lives on, as Gloucester is still an active port concentrated in the fishing industry. Spend sometime down near the docks and you will see Sword boats coming in after weeks at sea fishing the Grand Banks of the North Atlantic. The docks are lined with businesses that only support commercial fishing operations: Cape Pond Ice, Gorton’s Seafood, etc. And then there is the smell of the sea and fish… So, walk down to the docks of Gloucester on a nice warm day, close your eyes, take a deep breathe and think about nearly 400 years of fishing in this New England town…what an experience.

It is salty, isn't it? I can picture you snoozing at the edge of the ocean. Gloucester and Rockport do that to me, too. Touches your soul.
