Perhaps the three best words to describe New Orleans can be found in the phrase: TO GO CUP!!! That's right, "to go cups" are a tradition here in the Crescent City and one can find a stack near every door...whether you're in a bar, restaurant or someone's house....the ever-present "to go cup" is essential when moving from point "A" to point "B."

Actually, there is much more to do in New Orleans beside walk around the streets drinking the beer you bought at the last bar you were in...BUT you still have that option, which is more than I can say about most other cities in the U.S.

The environs & culture...

The city of New Orleans is wedged between the mighty Mississippi River to the south, east and west and Lake Pontchartrain to the north. The older sections of town that everyone knows / visits is located on an oxbow of the Mississippi, so, it is surrounded on three sides by the River (thus, the nickname, The Crescent City). With all that water and the fact that the city is actually sitting below sea level, you can kiss NOLA goodbye if the Mississippi River suddenly decides to change its course. So, you had better hurry up and visit before it's all gone....perhaps that's why people in NOLA live the way they do, like it's their last day on this Earth....a non-stop party for all to enjoy....

The move...

I recently moved to New Orleans (from Boston) for a job and change of industries. Oh, and one more reason, my new job requires more than fifty to sixty percent international travel... Although I am sad to leave Boston and New England, I am looking forward to experiencing all the things the New Orleans is famous for such as all those charming southern belles, spicy boiled crawfish, the vibrant art scene and lets not forget all that jazz and blues music...perhaps a little swamp boogie if you please Mr. Robicheaux!!!

I am also looking forward to being witness to the Crescent City's shady under belly that has characterized so much of its past. From the sound of Coco Robicheaux's legendary blues to the wild party crowds down on Bourbon Street to the lively burlesque shows to the underworld of Voodoo and the mystical graveyards and ever present scent of a tropical rain storm that could break lose at any minute leaving you drunk and soaking wet, New Orleans is definitely a city that everyone should experience...at least once...

Pros:"A good time any day of the week, great food & lots of booze...."
Cons:"The morning after....especially when it involves work...."
In A Nutshell:""Eat, drink and be happy, for tomorrow we die"...that should be the city's new motto..."
