My first trip to Amsterdam in September 2002 was very "spur-of-the-moment." I had been traveling a lot over the summer months throughout Canada and California and upon my return to Boston I was facing the fact that my apartment lease was going to end in August. Furthermore, I was still unemployed and loving every minute of it. So, I had no right to be thinking of going on a trip to Europe...after all, the last thing a responsible person would do is go on a trip to avoid looking for gainful employment....but that's what I did.

Naturally, it wasn't my idea...Action Jimmy, found a great deal on airfare from bankrupt U.S. Air (commonly referred to as U.S. Scare) and I obivously had the time to kill, so, a last minute European trip was thrown together once again.

We decided that we hit four cities on this little excursion (Amsterdam, Brugge, Cologne & Dusseldorf) and within two weeks of purchasing the airline ticket, we were sipping beers in the early morning sun shine of Amsterdam...

Round Two....

Back again to Amsterdam for a weekend break in July 2006. Truth be told, I was actually avoiding my inevitable return to the Dark Continent. After spending a week working in sunny Aberdeen and enjoying early morning walks up Skolty, I thought a weekend in A-dam would be a good way to delay my return to Luanda. It’d give me an opportunity to revisit some of the places I hit in 2002 and the chance to uncover new ones.
