The "Live Free or Die" State....

by Cabana_Boy - last update: Oct 5, 2007

A view from Welch Mountain near Waterville Valley.
Welcome to New Hampshire, where people chose to "Live free or die." A state with one of the least oppressive tax structures in the Union, but a lot of moose. In fact, I am convinced the only people specifically singled out for taxation in this state are the "Massholes" that come flooding across the southern border in droves each weekend. Toll booths on the North and South bound lanes of Interstates I-93 and I-95 facilitate the transfer of wealth from one state to the other and keep that gold dome in Concord at its shiny best.
Scaling Grand Monadnock in January.
Since living in Boston, New Hampshire has become one of my favourite states and it has been my dream to live there ever since I moved away from the Northeast back in 2002. But where and when??? From the White Mountain Region to the little towns like Keene or down to the coast and “big” city life of Portsmouth, I’ll never be able to decide where. The “when” is another matter altogether.

Pros:"Majestic moose, wholesome beer, clear night skies, grey granite mountains & bear scat on the trails..."
Cons:"Shares a border with Vermont..."

One more time through your neat pages of New Hampshire. Sent a few post cards of your mountain and small town tips to other friends. NH is such a neat place to visit and frolic. :-)
