Get out of the city and head North to Nambung National Park where there are these other worldly 30,000 year old petrified limestone pillars situated in a little desert next to the Indian Ocean. The pillars are commonly referred to as 'the pinnacles" and are about 17 kilometers south of Cervantes along the coast of Western Australia (around 250 kilometers north of Perth).

It's an incredible scene, especially in the morning as the sun rises over the crest of the surrounding hills, striking the pinnacles and turning them a bright yellow-orange color set against the dark blue Indian Ocean.
