Lost In transition...

...but what a beautiful ride!

Sweden

I never thought in a million years that I would ever actually experience the level of joy I've felt these past 12 months. I've been a very lucky man...one might even say blessed. I've been to France, The Netherlands, Hungary, England, Germany, Norway and of course the beautiful Göteborg and her surrounding cities. I've sipped the sweetness of Tokaji wine while facing a beautiful Hungarian sunset with fellow VT'rs Charlotte, Rea, Attila and his lovely girlfriend Noemi. I've seen and experienced so many precious and wonderful things which I never imagined possible but most importantly of all, I learned that love truly is beautiful and it's what makes us complete. To love and to be loved are two of the most precious gifts we can realize and for me, Christmas came early last year; October 21st in fact, for this is the day when Charlotte gently held my hand, looked deep into my eyes and said "Yes Todd, I would love to marry you; I would love to be your wife".

Hungary

Who would've guessed that two years ago I would meet my heart's desire; my eternal love, right here...on a travel site? Who'd have guessed that two years later on the anniversary of our meeting, I would have the courage to take the leap, ask her to be mine and actually hear the words I've been hoping to hear? Who'd have thought that I'd actually find true happiness 5000 kms from my home?

Not me, that's for sure...but then...I've never been very good at predicting the future. I really did think that the Internet was a fad and would quickly burn out.

Loving you Charlotte...completely; endlessly. You've a lovely, shining heart and I thank you for showing me how beautiful life truly can be. Thank you for making me the happiest man on the planet.

Norway

Well it now seems that this phrase holds an even sweeter message for Charlotte and I because as of Feb. 20th I've been allowed to consider myself a resident of Sweden. That's right. I've since been granted the 2-year temporary residence permit I had been hoping for and to be honest I'm still blown away by the speed at which it was approved. Since I had first submitted my application at the beginning of December 2005, we were fully prepared to wait 8, (even up to12) frustrating months for a decision, (as explained in everything I've read) but instead I was approved in just under 3. I really do think that some sort of land-speed record had been broken here, especially for the Göteborg office. So, here I stand, this transplanted Torontonian; new credentials firmly attached to my Passport, Personnummer memorized, Identitetskort and brand new SEB Bankkort in wallet, just itchin' to continue on with this new, exciting chapter in life.

So...just what is this "Mirror Project" anyway?

O.k. So I was sitting here reading all of my friends' homepages; seeing what's new and so on, when I suddenly came upon Kaspians' new chapter about his joining "The Mirror Project". I clicked the link, absolutely dug what I saw, and decided to do my part by submitting my own little self-portrait to their site. Thanx Edward for turning me on to this cool little idea.
