    • if you want to blend in, you need to have really nice clothes. Romans like to dress well. NEVER were shorts unless the temps are really over 30C!
    Wear sunglasses, and do not speak out loud.

    This way you will easily spot the pocket thieves in jammed up busses, when you stay alert and look people in their eyes. I had no trouble, although I used bus 64 almost daily. I dressed up as i could and always wore sunglasses- and first spotted the possible pocket thieves that were looking around them. Locals stay focus and are not interested in other people in busses.
