Went to London for the wedding of my beau's pals, Karen & Paul. This was my first trip to Europe & definitely not my last. We were there only for about 4 short days and didn't even scratch the surface of the beautiful, historic city. Stayed in Mayfair at the Naval Club (reciprocal club agreement), a ritzy section just off famous Hyde Park & a short walk or cab ride from Soho, Picaddilly, the Strand, Trafalgar Square... Best advice for first time visitors: get a bus pass on one of the double-decker tour buses w/guide included. We rode on the distinctive brown buses and had a blast. We got off & on the bus as needed/desired & also took some of the best photos available only from the middle of the road from the 2nd deck of a bus! Take a rainjacket with you; sprinkles are common & umbrellas are cumbersome. |
