This area has a great variety of beaches, from the 'see and be seen' Clearwater beach tourist zone to more remote options. I've recommended two of my favorites below.

Favorite 'touristy' little...

Favorite 'touristy' little town: Dunedin, just north of Clearwater. Lots of little shops and restaurants.
For an afternoon away from the water, or if it's cloudy, there are some nice 'arty' shops here. Some good restaurants also. This is along a big walking and biking path too.

Directions: Take US 19 North to 580. Go West on 580 for abt. 2 mi, bear left (follow little brown 'to downtown' sign) to downtown Main St..
