maneki-neko. good luck cat charm.
i didnt realize tokyo had no trees and only cement. until i came back to los angeles and said wow! trees! i also didnt realize how compacted tokyo is. the cool thing is, somehow tokyo is efficent and works perfectly. I dont think if L.A. was this compact and crowded tghat anyone would survive! things would go haywire.
shinjuku

parts of tokyo

Entertainment and Shopping
Ginza an elegant and expensive shopping and entertainment district
Shinjuku a large entertainment, shopping and business district
Shibuya a busy district for younger generations
Harajuku Japan's teenager capital
Akihabara the place to view and purchase the latest electronics products
Daiba futuristic shopping and entertainment district
Ameyoko a busy market street in Ueno

Temples and Shrines
Sensoji Temple a large temple in the Asakusa area
Meiji Shrine the shrine dedicated to the deity of Emperor Meiji
Sengakuji Temple the 47 ronin are burried in this temple's graveyard
Yasukuni Shrine the shrine dedicated to the deities of Japan's war dead.
Zojoji Temple the Tokugawa family temple next to Tokyo Tower

Other Attractions
Imperial Palace the Imperial Palace is located in the center of Tokyo
Imperial Palace East Gardens part of the Imperial Palace
Tokyo Tower a 333 meter tall steel tower
Ryogoku the center of the sumo world
Ueno Park a public park full of museums and other attractions
Tsukiji Fish Market one of the world's largest fish markets
not soo dense homes
homes are squished together! Tokyo has few homes due to lack of space.....mostly people live in high rise appato (apartments). but other smaller (but still big) cities have more homes. this is a tokyo suburb and I saw more crowded homes than in this photo!
